Economic theory 101

This is a slight modification of a post I just made over at the Rott. I’ve deleted the first line, and re-alphabetised the rest, because the first line had nothing to do with the remainder. The concept, however, of the rest needed putting here. Hope you enjoy it.

a. While this Chicago School of Economics may have outstanding theories, observable fact through history does not bear these theories out. Jobs come from the wealthy, the wealthy wish to stay that way or more so. If you increase their tax burden, and should they actually be decent enough to wish to keep their prices reasonable, they will cut their overhead to allow same. That is, do more with less. Less employees mean a lower payroll cost, and higher unemployment, while retaining the profit margin. Or if they want to keep their work force, they are forced to raise prices, thereby leading to inflation and/or a lowered standard of living. Here I could mention Sam Walton, and the original “associate” program. Do some research on his personal and business philosophy. Grand idea, but exploited upon his death.

b. As a Senior Non Commissioned Officer in the military, our studies included many observations of “the enemy” for lack of a better term. Their society, their general discontent with their lot in life, as a way to format ways of exploiting their deficiencies through human nature politically, and their weaknesses militarily.

c. If you look at the wealthy who support liberalism, it is because they have so much they don’t know what to do with it. If you have that much concern for others, and money to spare, this is a good thing. But you will find that those goods you give to the poor will not be appreciated, they will simply want more of your pie. Open your “soup kitchen”. Provide to the Salvation Army. Yes, there are some needy who will thank you. But there are many who will simply expect it from you once they become accustomed to it. You have developed dependency on your good will, and are now able to exploit that dependency to your benefit. If you look at the poor who support liberalism, it is because that dependency has been developed.
