In ’76, I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd on Daytona Beach for free. Much acid, babes and beer. Needless to say I was late getting back to Tampa for my Monday classes.
I remember it well! Well, vaguely. I left Gainesville in summer ’74 for my military career. You may have heard of the place? U of F. Yeah.
Went to school in Daytona in spring of ’74, MMI. Ever see the world look like a black and white tv with bad reception?
Just to demonstrate what an old fart I am… I had Green Grass and High Tides on vinyl!!! Nothing better on a Friday night after work than a few shots of tequilla, some Outlaws and 38 Special and a few good friends playing Yukor and discussing the issues of the day and cracking jokes.
Oh yeah, talk about stoned. I forgot to mention that a high school buddy of mine was a roadie for the Outlaws for years in the lates 70s. A mind is a terrible thing.
