Sleep well citizens,

05/31/2010

For rough men stand ready to do violence on your behalf. Those of us who have stood and stared down the throat of the dragon did so for you.

On behalf of those gone before us, living or dead, those to come in service to this nation, ready to write that ultimate blank check to the nation, I thank you for the honor of  giving us this nation to protect. The only thought in my mind when I volunteered during the tail end of the Viet Nam war was the abilities I could contribute to protecting America.

To those before me, thank you for giving me the chance to do it.

To those after me, thank you in advance for allowing me to continue to live in a free nation.

To those who served with me, thank you for being there. You’re why I’m still here.

Today, we honor those who paid the price for this land. And those yet to. This is the only country in the world designed the way it was. Others in the world have fought and died for their countries, but none have ever embodied the dreams of THIS country as you did, and will.

Read the Constitution. Study it. Feel the dreams our forefathers had in its design. Think of those who risked it all, and sometimes lost, to protect that dream.

REMEMBER YOUR OATH, and stand by it. As did those before us.
