Father God, Mother Earth, Brother Jesus, Sister Moon.
Ya know, I had forgotten all about Glenn Beck’s 8/28 rally. I went to bed at a reasonable (for me) hour, and planned on sleeping through until 10-11. Just before 8, I woke up. Woke up HARD. Didn’t understand why, but “Okay, I’m awake. Guess I’ll look at the blog, do some surfing,…”. Went over to the blogroll, clicked on the Rott, and DJ had streaming the rally on C-SPAN. I got there just in time for Sarah Palin to be giving the intro, so I upsized the screen and let it play.
Why did I title this post as I did? Because it is imcumbent upon ALL of us. of ALL religions, ALL beliefs to have listened to, and act upon those principles expounded. 3 hours of speech and song about America, the Founding of this nation, the history of what happened in that founding, in our growth, in our descent from that “Shining Light On The Hill” to the depravity we face. In the fact that this nation was founded on E Pluribus Unum, Out Of The Many, ONE! The fact that we must come together in our shared beliefs as a people, and fight those divisions created and fostered by those who would rather rule over a divided pile than serve an organized nation.
We are a REPUBLIC. We have those elected to serve us, to put forward “the will of the people” to those in control of those offices and positions to organise those services for us that are enabled by our contributions to the government coffers. They are NOT there to decide to tax us and redistribute our monies to the undeserving, but among those contributions we make are for care to the needy.
We have an election in just over 2 months. Do we continue to allow that which exists, or do we make it right? I spent a long time on my knees, crying and praying for God to heal this nation, to return it to its Glory in His Name. And Glenn had, on his place at the feet of the Lincoln Memorial, members of ALL sects. Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, I don’t know exactly what all else. We must stand together in Unity as people, not be divided by our differences but UNITED by our shared goals. America is still the greatest nation, the most giving, the most productive, the richest nation on this planet. The most important thing to this is that we unite as AMERICA, and screw whether we be Christian, Wiccan, Hindu, Buddhist, THAT DOES NOT MATTER! What MATTERS is the question, “ARE WE AMERICANS?”!
Dwell on that a bit. Some of us are warriors, some businessmen, some teachers, some workers, on and on. We must all do our part for this nation, we must all ask whatever diety we use the name of, and The Creator is the same but for a different name, to guide us to true unity and to shed the division. The divisions we can discuss, and agree to disagree or find a compromise, later. For now we must SAVE THIS NATION as what is was intended to be.
Lord God, I’m older now. I’m no longer the physical warrior you gave me to be in my earlier life. But, in Your Name guide my hands to influence others who still are to awaken to the greatness we enjoyed, and can renew. And thus we pray, AMEN.

The write ups are consistent (except for CBS – what rally did they go to?) 300,000+, diverse variety of people, love of country, love of fellow Americans, love of G-d.
The only negativity was from Sharpton’s people. The only hint or suggestion of exclusion was from Sharpton’s people.
The people are speaking. We are not unschooled. We do not hate our fellow Americans. We are not blindly following demagogues. We have served notice to the self righteous, “liberal” power elites that we do not want to be divided by race or religion or gender. We want to embrace our fellow Americans and move forward, out of the pit that’s been dug.
We are remembering our Manifest Destiny.
Indeed, my friend. We must hold them accountable. GOD will hold them accountable in the end, but through prayer and hard work WE can prevent our own suffering along the way. It’s not as though we don’t deserve at least some for letting it get to this point, but if we repent for the madness we may avoid worse than we suffer already.
Only the most vile cynic would have any problem with the message Beck was trying to convey.
Honor and integrity are values we all need to exhibit and demand from those who we deal with. Those qualities are sorely lacking in many of those currently chosen to lead this nation.
We must shun those who seek to demean us as a people with their one way street of calumny and derision; who wish only to see the scars of an all too human people. As Beck so poignantly points out we have made mistakes( not as many as I think he may believe) but we must not be held hostage to these mistakes and the unending penance and reparations certain people in this society would have us pay.
We must learn from the mistakes and become better for them. We must get off of this collective guilt treadmill many would have us eternally trod. We must recognize that on the whole, despite our sins, America has been a force for good in this world. Slow to anger, merciful in victory it is we as a people who have liberated and restored free choice to those who have been overrun by slavery and oppression. We have to confront and rebuke those who would equate American misdemeanors with other countries serial felonies(thank you Dr Hanson).
Our country has paid the price in blood and treasure promoting the eternal verity that all men are equal in the sight of God. Those who will deny that are truly blind and purposefully malign. They believe that man is not up to self rule that we must be herded like sheep that we lack the requisite abilities to make our own way of the world. They are the antithesis of the name they have chosen for themselves as they wish us to return to the bondage that has been man’s history since the beginning of time.
These are the people who will have a problem with the message of this event. It is they who will project their own cynical mindset by redefining words, imputing hidden meanings based on their warped view of the world or denigrating self admittedly imperfect messengers.
These are the hypocrites and deceivers who have made themselves manifest in our society. They wish to exacerbate the self inflicted wounds by wallowing in perpetual grievance. They know that if these wounds are allowed to heal their power will be diminished. Apparently once these so-called leaders have drunk from the chalice of power the have become addicted to it’s taste. They will not give up there power gracefully; they must be opposed and defeated, their warped punitive agenda halted before this land is subjugated under the yoke of guilt and artificially advanced grievance.
They are the one’s who lack honor as they deny the essential virtue with which this people is imbued; honesty, fundamental fairness, good hearted charity and a willingness to give the benefit of the doubt even to those who are fundamentally different from us.
Every day we as a people prove the idea of “American exceptionalism”. While other societies riot and murder when something they don’t like occurs we sit and discuss(admittedly somewhat vociferously) the matter and appeal to reason and the “better angels of our nature”.
Those who would equate the two responses are vile provocateurs and have to be confronted and called out on their humanity. These are the honorless whose conceit outweighs, in their aberrantly,convoluted thinking, the natural rights of man. It is they who wish to degrade the idea that man is his own best ruler.
Beck did a fine job of giving a fresh voice to an old idea.
