Napolitano is a liar, and here’s some proof

Not like we needed it, but here it is. AND look where this is from. Even the LSM is looking like they’re fed up.

The inability to store such images was always so much bullshit.

They need that abiltiy so they can store it for later use in potential a criminal proceeding on the improbable chance that they actually do uncover a terrorist(I’m sure Muslims are exempt because they have a better lobbyist than citizens do) and said terrorist escapes capture at that point.

They also have to have the ability to store a positive so they can relate the actual physical appearance with the machine image.

Again it is a case of the government treating American citizens as a security threat as if the threat of becomng a terrorist is uniform throughout the population instead of sampling from the high risk groups.

Of course they need to store images, I agree. Throwing my brain out the window to assume TSA is actually about security – they would need the images to point out what irregularity caused them to demand a subsequent grope session.

I am troubled deeply that none of this information is getting out:

Okay let me play devils advocate here.

The interview of Napolitano is where she is talking about the backscatter x-ray machines at the airports, not the millimeter wave machines that the US Marshalls are using at the US Court Houses.

There is a huge difference between the two machines. The backscatter machine uses a narrow, low-intesity x-ray beam that emits less radiation than your cell phone. It is capable of generating an image without having to compile it in memory. This is why there really is no reason to store images. The images from the backscatter machine are capable of rendering in 3D-like images because they are able to distinguish depth.

The Millimeter Wave machine uses electromagnetic waves to create an image based on the energy reflected from the body. This type of imaging does require a storage system in order to compile its images. The images themselves are not as “anatomically correct” (for lack of a better phrase) as the backscatter images because they don’t distinguish depth.

The MWI machines have been used in the US Courts since 2005, two full years before they were being tested at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. (Yes kids, they’ve been using these Millimeter Wave imaging machines in airports since October 2007 and the backscatter imaging since February 2007)

I have no idea why the US Marshall’s office is retaining 35 thousand images, I don’t see the need for retention on that scale. I assume there is a reason for the machine’s capability to store certain images is for evidence in a pending case. But to store images just because they can? I don’t see the need, or even the motivation.

Okay Dave. I actually like your last paragraph. But I maintain my initial post title.
