Very good question
01/30/2011
From over at The Sipsey Street Irregulars.
David Codrea asks the pertinent question, “What do sporting purposes have to do with the Second Amendment?”
Answer? Not a GOD damned thing. Remember the thing about Dodd and the NAZI laws?
Also from there, you may find this enlightening. You want a “well regulated militia”? Fine, here you go.

I just went through the CCW class. I really need to get out and shoot more, I haven’t been to the range in a couple of months and it really showed (much to my embarrassment).
“Sporting purposes” are a nice side benefit of the 2nd Amendment.
One more time:
Without the Right of Self Defense AND the means to carry it out, you have no rights at all. That’s a little more fundamental than the 1st Amendment.
What greater sport is there? And yes, Larry, happens to what were once the greatest of us. Luckily it’s only surface rust that polishes off quite quickly.
