Time to look at a couple of guns again
In this first instance, let’s look at Sheriff Jim Wilson reviewing the Ruger 1911. Ruger really has always made a good firearm. Occasionally there’s been a bit of a weak spot in performance, but rarely, and Ruger has always been superb in any model recalls for updates to any system problems that turn up in the field. You can grab any firearm off the production line, shoot it to failure, it can last longer than any normal human being would ever use it, and call it good/bad. Sturm/Ruger has always been excellent at doing that. But sometimes an unforeseen problem pops up. And that’s where Ruger really excels. If something they didn’t see does come to pass, send that one back and they will fix it. If it happens more than once, they recall the product for a tune to that problem across the line. In the case of the 1911, it looks as though they’ve done their research on damn near any problem that has EVER existed over the damn near century (at the time of introduction) in the system, and worked to guarantee that it’s not gonna happen with a Ruger. I’m just waiting for the “Commander” model, and I’ll be owning another Ruger. Full size 1911s I’ve got, in multiple calibers, in multiple brands. Rugers I’ve got, in several different calibers, in several different wheelgun variants. My next new one will be that Ruger Commander in 45. When/if it finally arrives. From everything I’ve heard or read, a used one will be a rare creature on the market because anyone with one will be keeping it!
And “Hickok45″ takes a little more time, and has a little more fun than Jeff.
The next thing let’s look at is one of those “dream rifles” that, if you can afford the thing, you can actually get. Barrett makes really fine machinery, also right here in the good ol’ US of A. Here is the write up on the development and testing of that system by a reputable magazine.
Just a couple of things to make you drool if you’re a gun nut like myself.

Ruger, Remington or Rock Island? So many choices…
Have a Rock Island, a Springfield, and a Taurus. ALL of them are sweet units.
If you had a free pick between a Ruger or a Kimber which one would you choose?
I’m thinking Ruger, actually. I’ve never had problem one with a Ruger. Kimbers I have seen sent back for work, or had to be taken to the local tune-up shop. Kimbers are normally good, but it’s primarily propaganda that they are that much better than any of a number of others. Ruger I trust.
