And over at “The Smallest Minority” I found this post. It came there from “The Coalition of the Swilling“, which is a very good site as well! It was Richard Epstein discussing redistribution of wealth on PBS, and eating their lunch.

That was a righteous bitch slapping of that smarmy cue ball.
Let me add one thing though to Dr Epstein’s wonderful exegesis. Again we have a smarmy liberal hack invoking the post WWII era economics as the golden age with high taxes and high growth. This was possible only because of the unique conditions that followed WWII where we had the only industrialized economy that wasn’t devastated by the war or under the yoke of Stalin or Mao.
When you are the only player on the field you can pretty much do what you want. Our poor policies came back to haunt us once Germany and Japan were rebuilt and later as other countries escaped communist hegemony or in the case of India and China realizing the capital destroying collectivism of Ghandi and Mao was no way to elevate the lot of 1 billion plus people…each.
Precisely. That was too good not to borrow!
