As I recall from grade school,
The government system of checks and balances is/was divided into 3 parts.
Executive Branch. POTUS, approval/disapproval of actions taken by Legislative Branch.
Legislative Branch. Subdivided, but responsible for
House primarily funding, and
Senate primarily establishing LAW
Both able to override Presidential approval or disapproval by a sufficient vote if they send something up to said Executive Branch and don’t like it’s reaction, and finally
Judicial Branch. Supposedly to apply the law. Supposedly non-partisan, cold hard judges finding the exact law that applies to a situation and applying said law in judgment of any case which reaches them. Not writing laws, not ignoring laws, applying them as written.
These people are supposed to be by the will of the people. Have I missed something? Thank FrankOK of the Empire for referencing this. You may, if you have not yet, want to check the Rott for the subject inspiration.
