Remember when Hell froze over?

And The Eagles got back together?

Great song. So was:

Not the original, but great fun.

I have always loved them. This was my favorite:

Saw them in 2008 right after the Phillies won the world series.

When they did the video montage that they would use to accompany in “In the City” they had clips of the last pitch of that world series and I thought the roof was gonna cave in. Serious goose bump moment especially for those of us who suffered through some of the worst seasons of a franchise that has lost more games than any team in professional sports.

You all probably know this but “Dirty Laundry” was originally done on Henley’s first solo album. It says a lot about those guys that they allow both Henley and Walsh to do a good amount of their solo stuff in the concert(at least when I saw them). The song itself has that perfect creepy vibe that we all associate with the dishonest slime merchants that inhabit the media swamp.

Don had it only partially right. Murdoch is a slime bucket but so are Brian Roberts(NBC), Laurence Tish(CBS) Disney(ABC) , Ted Turner(CNN), Sulzberger/Slim(NY Slimes) , Jeff Bezos(Washington Compost) and a full panoply of totalitarian loving goons who if Don really examined his premise his fuzzy little head might explode at the cognitive dissonance.

    This song epitomizes that dissonance.

Weren’t Henley and Walsh the primary writers for the band anyway? Perhaps they could have written some new stuff for the reunion, but it was still some excellent tunage.

Oh yes. LZ and The Eagles were a slightly different sort of act though.

They had a lot of help from inside and out.

Randy Meissner , JD Souther and Don Felder(now defenestrated) helped write a lot of their stuff. Henley and Frey were the main writers though. Joe Walsh joined later apparently replacing a guy named Bernie Leadon who also wrote a lot of their early stuff. Walsh first appeared on “Hotel California” and was joined by Timothy B Schmitt on “The Long Run”.

They all have some writing credits on the albums. The Eagles are very much a collaborative effort which may of may not explain why their line-up has changed so frequently with the constant being Henley and Frey. These are all talented guys and there are only eighty minutes on a CD.

Yeah. They should have gotten together and written some new music, but they still rocked.
