From National Review
One of the most spot on articles I’ve read in a while.
THIS is the greatest nation in history. Not one of, the.
The thing is… there will always be those who think they should rule. Why this is escapes me, which is probably why I’m not one of them. The Founders wrote the Constitution the way they did to attempt to control that, and Thomas Jefferson himself said that there needed to be a Revolution about every 20 years to keep this from happening.
What have we let happen to us? Why have we just allowed the elected servants become the ruling masters? Why have they pushed those in the dependent class to be the most important citizens? Simple. The more they get from the government, the more they are promised, the more they will vote for those who give them the freebies. And thus the government becomes more and more powerful.
Once upon a time the rules for voting were that you must be a gainfully employed property owner, or something of the sort.
Take this thought and run with it.
