See what you think

What’s to think? It’s not a question of the utility of bump stocks, whether they are “good or “bad”, it’s a question of regulations and their effect on us.

In this case, there are too many regulations already and I don’t remember a single instance when the Libs even showed any hesitation either damning gun owners or adding to firearm regulations while pursuing an endgame of total confiscation.

As far as regulations I would consider acceptable, I will go as far as removing the firearms rights of violent felons and lunatics and some sort of system (eg NICS) to enforce it. Beyond that, no restrictions on caliber or action type, no waiting periods, no registration beyond the current federal level and no magazine restrictions. A full auto 30mm should be just as legal as a .22 caliber, single shot target pistol.

I always liked Jeff Cooper’s idea that the dividing line between firearms covered or not covered by the Second Amendment to be weapons that can be operated by one person and those that require a crew to operate. An M2 heavy machine gun should be covered while the 16″ gun on a battle ship wouldn’t be. Notice I added the word required – many crew served weapons can be operated by a single person, just not quickly. My concept of reasonable firearms laws is pretty minimal.

Absolutely agreed. With every bit of your statement, bingo.
